• Four Color Deck - Added an in-app purchase to change the deck to a four-color deck.
• Downloadable History of All Games - Added an in-app purchase to download a history of all your games.  This is a comma-delimited-file that contains the date the game ended, who the opponent was, and the final score. You will need the password you use to login to the app, to login to the website to download the file.
• New Weekly Leaderboards - You can now see leaderboards for who has won the most games for the week, and who has scored the most points per round for the week. (Only games that are scored using the standard system are included in the points per round leaderboards). The previous weeks leaderboards are also available for viewing.  You must finish at least 6 games to get on the most games for the week board, and you must finish at least 24 rounds to get on the most points per round leaderboard.
• Tips for the Developer - Unfortunately this app has not been very lucrative. I have made around $5 - $10/hr for the time I have put in, and there are on-going server costs ($600/yr). As long as the app is bringing in more money than it costs I am happy to keep maintaining it (It has been around since April of 2013). If you feel inclined to send me a tip I would be grateful. One tipping option is for a repeat monthly tip of $5. If you sign up for such, you will get all the available in-app purchases for no extra cost, and any future feature upgrades for no extra cost.
• Status Bar -  The status bar on your phone used to be hidden by the app, now it is still visible.

The server will be down for maintenance tomorrow from 9:45PST to 11:45PST, thus the app will not be working during that time.

Open Face Chinese Poker on the iPhone

I had to remove the free version of the OFC app on Apple because I was getting less sales overall and the extra users were bogging down the server.  If you have a group of at least five friends who want to try the app on Apple please let me know and I can make it temporarily available.

Sorry the free demo version for Apple is out-of-date and no longer available.

Make Sure You Are Running the Newest Version

A couple versions ago I updated to a more powerful server.  For a while old version of the server redirected to the new server, but now the old server is down.  If you are running an older version of the app it will not work.  Please update to the latest version to resolve any issues.

Two Improvements

I just updated the game so that if you get to Fantasyland in the last round it will add a round.  The game will end when on a round where neither player makes it to Fantasyland.

The other update is that when you get to Fantasyland your cards will be initially sorted by value.  The next update will have more sophisticated sorting (by value or by suit), but for now this should help.

Pineapple - Open Face Chinese Poker

Open Face Chinese Poker by Corvid Apps will have Pineapple within a couple days.  I have submitted the app to Apple a week ago so it should get approved any day now.  I will release it on Google Play at the same time the Apple version goes live.  So both Android and iPhone users will be able to play each other.

OFC With a Wild Card

I just released a new feature for OFC to add a joker to the deck that is a wild card.  After buying the OFC app you can play two games at a time with a joker for free, for approximately $1 USD you can play an unlimited number of games.  Enjoy!

OFC Poker Version 1.8 Update

Version 1.8 of the Open Face Chinese Poker app has a lot of new features.  It is available on Google Play right now, and will be available on iOS in about a week. 

- Chat!

- Play against random opponents. Start a game with the next person requesting one.
- Quicker game play, now you can switch between games without having to return to the lobby
- Be able to view your opponents card before they play it
- Fixed bug with resetting passwords
- Fixed problems with Android back button

Notifications are what I am working on next.  I have no idea how long this will take, because my initial research makes it seem challenging to do it for both platforms, but I have been averaging an update once a month so hopefully that will hold true.

• Fantasy Land – Get a great top hand, and you get to set all your cards like regular Chinese Poker while your opponent still only gets to set their cards one at a time.  There is also an option that if you lose while in Fantasy Land you are punished, in that your opponent gets to double (or triple, or whatever you set) their points.

Changes for Version 1.6

Version 1.6 has been released on Google Play and has been submitted to Apple and will be available in about a week.

• Ability to decline games.
• Smoother transition between devices.  Sometimes games got lost on a device if you switched devices you were playing on.
• Fantasy Land was being shown to the opponent face up.  Now you have the choice of showing it face up, or face down.  All current games will continue to be played face up, but the default for all new games will be to show face down.
• Changes in default scoring options.  Trips in the middle are now worth 2 in royalties, Straight flush on top is now worth 15 instead of 10, royal flush is worth 25 instead of 20 and double that in the middle.  In Fantasy Land default, punishment is now turned off by default, and the default will be to show the fantasy land cards face down.  
• Punishment for losing in Fantasy Land is now scored differently.  Before it was doubling all the royalties and points, summing and then subtracting the opponents sum.  Now it is summing the points, subtracting your opponents, and then doubling the final score.  This scoring change is in effect for all current and future games.
